Helpful Guidance for Mothers & Families

General guidance from our team. Every patient is different — always follow the specific advice given by your doctor at Vardhaman Hospital.

During Pregnancy

  • Visit regularly. Attend all antenatal check-ups advised by your doctor — they track your health and your baby's growth.
  • Don't skip sonography. Scans are scheduled at specific stages of pregnancy for a reason; our in-house sonography makes this easy.
  • Eat well and stay active as advised — a balanced diet, iron and calcium as prescribed, and gentle activity unless your doctor says otherwise.
  • Know the warning signs. Bleeding, severe headache, blurred vision, reduced baby movement or leaking fluid — call us immediately, any time. We're available 24 Hrs.

Preparing for Delivery

  • Keep a hospital bag ready from the 8th month — documents and reports, clothes for mother and baby, and essentials for a 2–4 day stay.
  • Carry your file. Bring all your antenatal reports and sonography records when you come for delivery.
  • Save our numbers. Appointments: +91 94269 23978 · Emergency (24 Hrs): +91 98793 63794.
  • Come without delay once pains begin, waters break or bleeding starts — our labour room and team are ready round the clock.

After Delivery & Newborn Care

  • Breastfeed early and often — it protects your baby and helps your own recovery. Ask our staff for help with positioning.
  • Watch for jaundice. Yellowing of the baby's skin or eyes is common and treatable — our phototherapy unit is in-house. Inform the pediatrician promptly.
  • Complete all vaccinations on schedule at our vaccination centre — starting with the birth doses before you go home.
  • Attend follow-up visits for both mother and baby with Dr. Piyush B. Patel, our consultant pediatrician.

Before & After Gynaec Surgery

  • Before surgery: share your full medical history and current medicines with your doctor, and follow fasting instructions exactly.
  • After laparoscopy recovery is usually quicker — but rest as advised, keep the small incisions clean and dry, and avoid heavy lifting until cleared.
  • Take medicines as prescribed and complete the full course — don't stop early because you feel better.
  • Report warning signs — fever, increasing pain, redness or discharge at the wound — to us without waiting for your next appointment.
